Drs. Quiring and Goldberg in the TAMU Department of Geography are seeking to hire Research Assistants for three separate positions (described below).
First preference will be given to Undergraduate applicants from the TAMU Department of Geography who will continue to be enrolled through Fall 2014, and among those, candidates with Work-Study classification. However, any TAMU Undergraduate or Graduate applicant with the skills necessary and/or interest(s) in the position(s) will be fully considered.

Position 1
Position Name: TAMU GeoInnovation Service Center Project, Sales & Marketing Assistant
Position Title: Undergraduate Student Technician
Position Wage: $10/hr, 20 hours/week (semester), 39 hours week (non-semester)
Position Responsibilities (in order of priority):
- Project management – Task management, Scheduling events
- Accounting – Purchasing, Income/Expense management, Budgeting
- Sales – Lead generation, Customer follow-up
- Marketing & Promotion – Social media, News
Position Description:
This position will assist Dr. Goldberg and the TAMU GeoInnovation Service center with administrative duties, primarily project management and accounting for the TAMU GeoServices website and other various projects. This position will also be responsible for making sales calls and assuring customer satisfaction as well as marketing and promotion of the TAMU GeoInnovation Service Center.
Desired Qualifications (in order of priority):
- Experience in project management role
- Experience in with accounting software (Quickbooks)
- Experience in office management
- Experience with marketing (Google AdWords)
- Experience managing social media (Facebook)

Position 2
Position Name: TAMU GeoInnovation Service Center Support Assistant (Level 1)
Position Title: Undergraduate Student Technician
Position Wage: $10/hr, 20 hours/week (semester), 39 hours week (non-semester)
Position Responsibilities (in order of priority):
- Technical Support – Answer customer questions (phone, email, chat)
- Service Management – Daily review of website status
- Data processing – Process customer data files
Position Description:
This position will assist Dr. Goldberg and the TAMU GeoInnovation Service center with support of the GeoServices website and the services it provides. Duties will primarily include primary point of contact for customer technical questions via phone calls, emails, and chats. This position will also be responsible for monitoring website and service status and processing data in-house as need.
Desired Qualifications (in order of priority):
- Experience in tech support
- Experience in customer service
- Experience with geocoding tools
- Experience with databases (CSV, Access) and database languages (SQL)
- Programming languages – C#, HTML, Javascript

Position Name: TAMU North American Soil Moisture Database Website Development & Support
Position Title: Undergraduate Student Technician
Position Wage: $10/hr, 20 hours/week (semester), 39 hours week (non-semester)
Position Responsibilities (in order of priority):
- Website Management – Update NASMDB website content
- System Development – Enhance and extend data extraction and integration systems
- Data Processing – Use NASMDB website to generate pre-computed data files
Position Description:
This position will assist Drs. Quiring and Goldberg with the management of the NASMDB website. These duties will include updating website content and the development of tools which enhance the extraction of data from data sources and the integration of these data into the NASMDB.
Desired Qualifications (in order of priority):
- Experience with databases (CSV, Access) and database languages (SQL)
- Programming languages – C#, HTML, Javascript
